Jon McMain is a London based freelance designer specialising in furniture, lighting, upholstery, and outdoor furniture.
With over 11 years of experience across design and product development, Jon combines a strong creative eye with a detailed understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and the practicalities of bringing commercial designs into production.
Jon has a high level of expertise in 3D CAD, producing detailed models and precise technical drawings that bridge the gap between creative concept and production.
Whether developing an idea from the ground up, providing additional design resource to an existing team, or taking a product from concept through to manufacture, Jon provides flexible, considered freelance design support tailored to each project.
His experience spans both independent design studios and large-scale retail, having worked with brands including Soho Home, Lee Broom, Habitat and Sainsbury’s Argos. This breadth of experience allows Jon to adapt his approach to different brand identities, aesthetics and commercial requirements.
In 2019, Jon joined Lee Broom’s studio, working closely with the renowned British designer he gained extensive experience in the design and development of furniture and lighting. In 2024, Jon joined Soho Home as a Senior Designer, leading the design team in developing a high volume of new furniture, lighting, upholstery and outdoor furniture. After two years at Soho Home, he began working independently, offering his experience and expertise to clients on a freelance basis.
